PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — There's good news if you need to get between Philadelphia and New Jersey as you ring in the new year: you can use PATCO, and it won't cost you a dime.

From 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve until 4 a.m. New Year's Day, hop on a PATCO train and your ride is free.

"It was important for us to try to contribute to safety over the holiday," said PATCO President John Hanson.

Trains run every 15 minutes until 11:30 p.m., and then every 30 minutes after that.

"If anybody boards while it's free, but is actually getting off when we've gone back to collecting fares, all they'll have to do is access the red phone, call our customer service representatives and they'll let them out for free," Hanson explained.
