PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — To ring in the official start of summer this week, the Phillies hosted a Beach Bash before Monday night's home game that had all the feels of the Jersey shore.

This beach-themed party had it all, from a miniature boardwalk to a giant sandcastle, plus a grand entrance by the Phillie Phanatic with an inflatable shark in hand and a Hawaiian shirt.

The Beach Bash also celebrated the new Boardwalk Eats in Citizens Bank Park, which opened this year and serves up all the food favorites you'd order in Ocean City or Wildwood.

"Boardwalk, summertime, we wanted to bring that feel to the ballpark," said Aramark Executive Chef  at the ballpark Vonnie Negron."From the burgers to the sausages to the hot dogs to the treats — the funnel cake, the milkshakes, the only thing we don't have is the ocean."

Free samples were handed out during the pregame festivities.

The Phillies broadcast team also modeled their summer attire while former player Greg "The Bull" Luzinski looked on from the lifeguard stand.
