PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging gave more than 200 elderly citizens the VIP treatment ahead of Thanksgiving, with a free hot meal and all the fixings.

Ms. Bond says she’s thankful for the early holiday meal because she doesn't have to worry about who made the stuffing.

“Because everybody can't cook turkey, everybody can't cook stuffing,” she said.

Luckily for her, Reading Terminal Market donated all of the food and Ms. Tootsies, a restaurant in the terminal, prepared it.

Bob Reid says it’s a hit.

Reporter: “What's your favorite thing about it?

“The Food,” Reid said laughing. “I’m being honest.”

The event takes place every year to make sure elders like Ms. Maxine Votee have a festive meal and fellowship, regardless of how much family or funds they have.

“My family, my sister, my brother, they all work,” she said. “They don’t live in Philadelphia and they don’t have as much time as I would like.”
