PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — New Jersey's gambling industry has gained another player that's part sportsbook, part casino game and a sliver of Facebook.

Play SugarHouse Casino Slots — an app for Apple devices, Android and on the web — is equipped with a news feed that alerts gamblers when someone really beats the house.

"When players have big wins on the casino, the sports bettors see it," said Richard Schwartz, president of Rush Street Interactive. "When a player has a big win on a sports bet — for example, they have a $200,000 jackpot — the players on the casino side will also see those big winners posted as well."

Players use the same account and earn loyalty points for casino and sportsbook play. And, Schwartz said, it's not your typical sports betting experience.

"There will be more than 5 million bets a year that players will be able to make on the in-game betting capability that we offer," he explained.

For instance, there are several dozen options to bet during a baseball game.

"During a tennis match, you'll be able to bet on every point," Schwartz added. "It gives you a lot more variety."

Play SugarHouse operates under Golden Nugget's online license. It joins other casinos, like the Borgata and Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, in offering mobile sports betting.
