PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Police have identified a suspect in the shooting of a 13-year-old boy outside a Southwest Philadelphia corner store early Wednesday morning.

Southwest Detectives say 19-year-old Rafiq Small is suspected of firing several shots at the corner of Woodland and Island avenues, and that two bullets struck the teenage victim in the stomach as he walked from his bicycle to the store.

The boy was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he underwent surgery before being placed in critical but stable condition.

Police say Small is wanted for attempted murder and related offenses, and that anyone who knows where he may be should call 911. Authorities say anyone who spots Small should not approach him, because he is likely armed and dangerous.
