PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A toddler and his parents were inside an SUV that flipped over Thursday night in Southwest Philadelphia after gunmen shot at the Jeep over two dozen times.

This happened around 6.30 p.m. near 66th and Upland streets.

Police say as the shots were being fired, the driver, a 28-year-old woman, drove off and crashed into a parked car, which caused the SUV to turn on its side. A 37-year-old man was in the passenger seat, and their 2-year-old son was in the back.

"Luckily, none of the individuals in the vehicle, including the 2-year-old boy, were struck by gunfire even though seven bullets went into that vehicle," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

None of the passengers were injured. Small says the shooters left the scene in a green Buick before getting in an accident in Yeadon, Delaware County.

One man inside that car, who police are calling a suspect, has been arrested.

Investigators don't know yet if this was a targeted attack.
