PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Target won't be opening its two newest Philadelphia-area stores until October, but the retailer is beginning to take applications to hire this month.

Two small-format stores, one at Broad Street and Washington Avenue in Philadelphia, and one in Devon, Pa., will both open on Oct. 21.

The store at Broad and Washington is hosting a hiring event Aug. 10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Aug 11, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Bellevue Hotel, 200 S. Broad St., in Philadelphia. Jennifer Yaksich, store team leader, says the location is looking to hire 75 people.

The Devon store will host a similar hiring event Aug. 16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 17, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Aug. 18., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Radnor Hotel, 591 Lancaster Ave., in St. Davids, Pa. This location is hiring an additional 75 employees, Yaksich says.

These two will be the sixth and seventh small-format Target locations in the Philadelphia area. The smaller stores are tailored to the needs of urban residents, people living in dense suburban neighborhoods, and students on college campuses.

Interested applicants are encouraged to visit to apply in advance of the job fair date.
