PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A teenager has been arrested for the murder of a corner store cashier earlier this month in South Philadephia — and charged in the execution-style murder of a 15-year-old back in October.

Philadelphia police say 18-year-old Tyseem Murray fatally shot Xiaoding Li once in the chest as he worked in the corner store at Ninth and Porter streets on Jan. 7, just before 6 p.m. The motive appears to be an attempted robbery, though officials say it doesn’t look like anything was taken.

The 31-year-old victim was the son of the store’s owner, and was well-known and liked in the neighborhood.

Murray is also charged in another murder: Fifteen-year-old Zyqueire Echevarria was found shot in the head near Seventh and Dickinson streets in South Philly on Oct. 14, 2019.

Officers say Murray was seen riding his bike through the neighborhood and shooting the teenage victim.

Murray was also charged with aggravated assault and robbery in a separate incident from Jan. 9.

Murray’s preliminary hearing for both cases is scheduled for February.
