CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The USRowing Club Nationals runs through the weekend at Cooper River Park, and organizers can use a little help if you have some free time.

It's a national competition, which means a lot of out-of-towners will be trickling through the city, and they don't know the area too well. Regatta officials are hoping some volunteers will fill the gaps.

"We're very excited to have the USRowing Club Nationals at Cooper River Park," Camden County Freeholder Jeffrey Nash said. "We are looking for volunteers help with that event. We have over 1,700 crew participants and if we can get help from the community, it would make the experience even that much better."

They're not looking for anyone to do any heavy lifting — the crew clubs handle that on their own — but Nash likened the need for volunteers as "ambassadors."
"We need help with directionals and organizing the tents with so many different crews and so many different logistics," he added. "We need people to help handle the logistics of such a large event."

You'll also get a chance to see some rowers in their prime.

The event goes on until Sunday. Volunteers can sign up here.
