PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With ponchos on and umbrellas in hand, crowds weren't about to let rain stop them from enjoying fireworks along the Delaware River Waterfront to ring in 2019.

"It's fireworks, it's New Year's, it's the best," said Kate Bowers, who didn't allow the wet weather to ruin her night. "By the time the show was on I was dancing around."

Before everything got underway, crowds were in search of cover from the rain, but once the fireworks began, people started filing into the open to see the spectacle.

"It was fantastic," said Matt Burst.

"It was pretty cool," added Rhaya Ramas. "I liked it a lot."

Jesus Davaloz felt bad for anyone who skipped this year's shows because of the weather.

"They should make time next year to come and see it," he said. "It was a really great show."

There was no more waiting until "next year" for Bob Shegda and his wife who came to town from the suburbs.

"All these years we've always watched at home," he told KYW Newsradio. "We finally said 'we're coming out' and it was a great show, well done, great crowd."

When asked what the best part was, some people voted for the finale, but the general consensus was when the Rocky theme song played.

The entire soundtrack to this year's fireworks was movie-themed and aired on KYW Newsradio while the fireworks were going.
