HARRISBURG, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) -- Governor Wolf’s remarks on Twitter about recreational marijuana are creating a stir.

As recently as August, Governor Wolf said he doubted Pennsylvania citizens were ready for recreational marijuana. But Wednesday Wolf, re-elected to a second term in November, expressed what seems to be an at least subtle change in his position.

On Twitter, the governor – pointing to other states that are successfully implementing it – said he thinks it is time for Pennsylvania “to take a serious and honest look at recreational marijuana.”

Wolf also noted that such a change would, of course, require the approval of the legislature.

That legislature is controlled by a Republican majority that, after the fall election, is smaller in number but in the view of some political observers, is also more conservative.
