PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- A non-profit organization in Philadelphia dedicated to meeting the comprehensive needs of women transitioning from the military to civilian life is getting ready to celebrate its 5th anniversary.

The Veterans Multi-Service Center's Women Veterans Center (WVC) in Old City has a number or resources available to women who are military veterans, including career guidance, mental health support, substance abuse counseling and housing options.

"We have seen an increase in women who are facing housing insecurities and harmlessness," said program manager Anna Stormer, "so we offer housing case management and we also, through our sister site, have a transitional housing program called the Mary Walker house."

On Thursday, January 17 at the Independence Visitor Center, hundreds of women affiliated with the organization will be celebrated. Proceeds will go directly to the Women Veterans Center.
