PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The biggest tattoo convention in the world is taking place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center this weekend.

The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention features 1,000 artist and vendor booths.

Last year, Eagles Super Bowl tattoos were the big thing. Carl Blasphemy,  one of the show's organizers, points out what's hot this year.

"What I'm seeing a lot more now is that Seiko geometrical stuff,” he explains. “That little dot or lattice work and I'm seeing a lot more water color tattoos. I guess the biggest trend I'm seeing right now, more women than men are getting tattoos and a lot of first timers too.”

Megan Galletti of Nazareth, Pennsylvania says she was getting a mermaid tattoo on her hip.

Reporter: Did you have a hard time deciding what you wanted?

I just picked what I really liked, the way it looked and so I just took it,” she said. “I didn't really think about this.”

Reporter: I'm told more and more women are getting tattoos, would you agree with that?

“I would say that I see a lot of females with a lot of tattoos," she said.

It’s the 21st year the convention is being held.
