PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Starting today, PATCO riders traveling between Philadelphia and New Jersey will now have more options this summer thanks to a new expanded schedule.

Previously...

"On Saturday's PATCO ran a 20 minute headway and on Sunday's we ran a 30 minute headway," said PATCO General Manager John Rink.

But now, thanks to the completion of some capital projects, Rink says, they're able to reduce the times between train departures.

"We're now able to enhance our service or run better service and we'll be running 15 minutes on a Saturday and 20 minute headways on Sunday."

PATCO is making similar changes for several hours on weeknights as well right after the evening rush.

"With the shorter distance between trains, we can provide additional and better service, so we could be a great option for those looking to go into the city because the headways are tighter."

This will result in around 80 more PATCO trips per week.
