PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The Philadelphia Zoo has six new filtered water bottle filling stations for visitors to use. It's an effort conserve water and reduce waste.

Water bottle filling stations are at various locations on the zoo's campus.

"We are really encouraging our guests to bring reusable water bottle with them, as opposed to purchasing single use water bottles," said Kim Lengel, Vice President for Conservation and Education at the Philadelphia Zoo. "And we are giving them lots options to refill at the zoo at filtered chilled stations."

There is a sign on each station that reads, "together, if we all drink from reusable bottles during our zoo visits we can eliminate 2,500 pounds of single use plastic bottle waste per year."
