PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Is there a Philadelphia institution that doesn't have an ambiguous new mascot?

The Please Touch Museum has introduced its own new mascot, a purple, fuzzy, wide-eyed creature named Squiggles.

Squiggles was unveiled Sunday during the museum's 42nd Birthday Bash.

Before Gritty took the mascot craze by storm, the museum launched a citywide naming contest in July to give the ambivalent spiky-haired blob a name. The public voted in August.

The three-dimensional creation of Squiggles was the final phase of the Please Touch Museum's rebranding effort, which began in May. The museum describes Squiggles as "a friendly character with curious eyes, a big heart and an even bigger imagination."
