PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police are investigating a shootout in West Philadelphia over the weekend. Sandrea Williams, 17, is dead, and two boys are hospitalized. Now police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

Homicide Capt. John Ryan says the shooting Friday night traumatized the neighborhood near Carlton and Simpson streets.

"There was a group of juveniles out there, hanging out, as kids do, around 10:30 at night," Ryan said. "Two men snuck down an alley nearby and opened fire on the group. Up to 23 shots were fired by two different guns."

Ryan says Williams was apparently not the target of the shooting.

"It's almost like a terror attack, because they crept down an alley and just opened fire indiscriminately on a group of kids," Ryan said. "It's a miracle that there weren't any more casualities."

Ryan says initial interviews show this may have been sparked by a "petty neighborhood dispute."

Detectives are now looking for surveillance camera video from the neighborhood that could help in the investigation.

Anybody with insight into the attack is encoraged to call 215-456-TIPS.
