GLASSBORO, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — The Rowan University softball team is getting ready for the Super Regionals of the Division III NCAA Tournament.

The Profs will take on Moravian in a best-of-three series beginning Saturday on their home field in Glassboro, New Jersey. The series was supposed to begin Friday but rain delayed the start.

Rowan is 37-11-1 on the season. The Profs' run through the post-season is impressive, even more so when you consider that in both the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament and their NCAA Tournament Regional, Rowan lost their first game but fought through the loser's bracket to eventually win both events.

"We are pretty excited and proud of this group," said Kim Wilson, Rowan head coach. "They have been able to come through the loser's bracket in two tournaments and end up champions. So pretty proud of who they are and the resilience that they have shown."

Rowan is in the NCAA Tournament for an eighth consecutive season, and Wilson said there are a lot of players responsible for this success.

"Carly Anderson is our shortstop," she said. "She's been doing a great job for us. Good power hitter, leadoff [hitter]. Morgan Smith is playing in the outfield and leads our team in home runs and doubles, broke a bunch of hitting records this year. We have two sophomore pitchers that are doing a great job, Jesse DeDomenico and Lauren Shannon."

Wilson said it's pretty cool to be able to host this Super Regional.

"We're comfortable on our field," she added. "I mean, we'll play anywhere — in the end it doesn't really matter where we are. But being home is nice."

Rowan's first game with 36-6 Moravian on Saturday is slated to start at noon.
