DELAWARE COUNTY (KYW Newsradio) -- Road crews were called twice Sunday after a sexually explicit message appeared twice on an electric sign in Delaware County.

Along I-95 South, near the Ridley Park exit, yellowish-orange letters read Delco… and then a reference to a sexual act which equates the county not being up to a high standard.

A spokesman with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says they first received a call about the concerning words around 10 a.m. and then again in Sunday afternoon.

Officials say they are looking into how it could have been altered.

A Maintenance Assistant County Manager in Delco had to be called to manually reset the digital sign.

The Department of Transportation says all roadway signs are owned by the contractors who do the work.

Crews could be seen Sunday addressing the altered sign for the second time Sunday evening.
