Proving less can be more, Twitter's newly crowned most influential user has barely tweeted this year.

Taylor Swift is Twitter's Most Influential User for 2018 according to the annual list from social media analysis company Brandwatch.

Swift holds the top spot despite only tweeting 13 times (not including retweets) and last posting in June.

Coming in second and topping the list of most influential men Liam Payne formally of One Direction.

He's followed by Donald Trump, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashiam West, and Demi Lavoto.

The results are weighed by "genuine engagement"-- a measure of how influential an account is over time. In a blog post Gemma Joyce said "While lots of followers, retweets and replies will help, the more influential the people they engage with, the better the score."

Other takeaways from the list-- the women had a higher influencer score than the men, musicians dominate both top 10s, particularly in the female list, and Justin Bieber, who’s been a constant on the top 10 list for the last three years, rarely uses Twitter yet is able to generate a huge amount of engagement.
