Toy Hall of Fame's 2018 inductees include some oldies but goodies

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Will more toys be inducted into this year's Toy Hall of Fame? Signs point to yes.
The 2018 inductees into the Toy Hall of Fame include the Magic 8 Ball, Uno, and pinball.
The Magic 8 Ball, introduced in 1946, was in the running seven times before finally being inducted this year.
The winning toys were chosen out of nine other finalists, including American Girl Dolls, chalk, Chutes and Ladders, Fisher-Price Corn Popper, Masters of the Universe, the sled, tic-tac-toe, Tickle Me Elmo, and Tudor Electric Football.
Pinball's roots actually date back to an 18th-century French table game called bagatelle. The modern, coin-operated pinball machine was introduced in 1931.
Uno was created by an Ohio-based barbershop owner, who dreamed up the idea for the fast-paced game while playing cards with his own family.
The National Toy Hall of Fame was established in 1998, when toys like Barbie, Crayola Crayons, Etch A Sketch, Lego, Monopoly, and Play-Doh were the first to be inducted.
