PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Some travelers at Philadelphia International Airport are taking matters into their own hands to avoid problems or delays that may be caused by Hurricane Michael.

While their flights were not yet impacted, some who live near the Florida Panhandle said they're not taking any chances.

"We are actually leaving a day early," said one traveler. "We know that there's going to be some delays through Atlanta and I don't want to get caught out of state trying to get home for the weekend on flights that are already booked."

While he lives a relatively unaffected part of Florida, he changed his flight to make sure he wouldn't get stranded in Philadelphia.

"The flight is going to pass through or around the hurricane area, so we tried to avoid that," he added. "We have some sorts of warnings that it's going to be affected, the flights are going to be affected, so we have to get out of here as soon as possible."
