PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Villanova will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season on Saturday night when the Wildcats welcome Bucknell to the Main Line.

The Wildcats fell to 2-1 this past weekend with a 45-35 loss to Towson in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.

Villanova jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but then the Tigers rolled off 35 straight points in the first half to take control of the game. Villanova continued to battle, but could get no closer than seven the rest of the way.

"Real physical contest," Villanova head coach Mark Ferrante said. "It was like two heavyweight fighters going toe-to-toe throwing punches. Unfortunately, they landed a few more than we did."

Quarterback Zach Bednarczyk threw four touchdown passes in defeat for Villanova, two to tight end Ryan Bell.

Bucknell is coming off a 34-17 loss to Penn, which dropped the Bison to 0-3, but Ferrante said Bucknell has his team's attention.

"They gave William and Mary all they can handle in the opening week," he noted. "It was a 14-7 score. So obviously that opens our eyes because we know what our CAA opponents are like."

Ferrante said his offense will be challenged in this one by the Bison defense.

"They are similar to us in the fact that they play a three-down front, and a lot of times, like we do, they line their defensive ends up inside the tackles and have some overhanging linebackers and things like that."

But, he said, the unit also differs from the Wildcats.

"They move more people around than we do," Ferrante said. "We move our guys and we balance to certain formations, take a linebacker out of the box, those types of things, and we'll bring a safety down to load up the box. But they move guys around — sometimes their middle linebacker ends up being a stand-up defensive end."

Villanova and Bucknell will get underway at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Villanova Stadium.
