Weekend Box Office Report: 'Rampage' Wins Box Office Battle

April 16, 2018 - 8:00 am

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- It was a quieter weekend for A Quiet Place, but a noisy one for Rampage.

A new video game-inspired thriller starring Dwayne Johnson, Rampage finished first at the box office by earning an estimated $35 million on its debut weekend.

That knocked the horror thriller, A Quiet Place, last weekend's leader, from its first-place perch.  But it still took in another $33 million.

Third place went to the weekend's other debuting attraction -- the horror thriller, Truth or Dare -- which totaled $19 million.

Overall, industry-wide totals were well below those of last weekend as well as those of the counterpart weekend a year ago.
