Lauren Lipton

At the Editors Desk, Lauren Lipton: A familiar phrase for the many who listen to KYW Newsradio in the morning. Lipton has long guided the morning drive shows from the KYW editor's desk, as well as hosting the award-winning "Positively Philadelphia!" reports.

Before joining Newsradio, Lipton worked at television stations in Philadelphia and New York. Longtime radio listeners in the Delaware Valley will remember her newscasts on WFIL Radio (as Lauri Lipton), one of the most successful “Top 40" radio stations in the country at the time, where she was the station’s first female anchor. She also was the first woman to cover the Army-Navy game: in 1973 she was sent to cover the contest with a press pass that said "LADIES NOT ADMITTED TO THE PRESS BOX." After that day, credentials for the Army-Navy game were changed; that line was never used again.

Lipton has won numerous awards for her journalism work including a special honor presented by President Ronald Reagan at the White House for a television news series on volunteerism. She is a member of the Temple University Lew Klein Alumni Media Hall of Fame and the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of fame.

In addition to her work at KYW, Lipton has been a part-time faculty member at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.
