Jay Lloyd's Getaway: All-season resorts

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Old-time ski areas have gotten a modern facelift. With the long end-of-year vacation season approaching, there are more activity options if the snow is a no show.

Nowadays, many ski areas have tacked the word "resort" onto their handles. For skiing families, couples and singles, that means there's still a lot to do when snow fails to fall.

Camelback Resort in the Poconos, for instance, even keeps non-skiers happy.

"I really like the water slides," said one visitor. "They're pretty cool. The wave pool is also pretty cool."

A water park, eateries and a swim-up bar keep winter getaway seekers engaged on days when playing in the snow isn't in the mix.

And when skiing, riding and tubing are on the menu, all-weather fun is the cherry on a getaway sundae.

In western Pennsylvania, Seven Springs Mountain Resort provides the variety, while Woodloch Resort in the northern Poconos offers skiing at nearby Ski Big Bear. Go for it.
